Artist Statement
I consider intuitive creating to be the core of my practice as an artist. My work addresses the little elements of childhood that stay with us throughout our lives while paying homage to the people who impacted me as an artist. I prefer to work hands-on with any medium, whether that’s sanding wood by hand, sewing without a machine, or making my paints.
I primarily use fabrics and paint to create collages that realize my ever-shifting imagination. Inspired by the quilt-making of my grandmother and the craft-making of my childhood, I work with leftover materials like fabric from quilting scraps or discarded clothing. I utilize the unique patterning to create whimsical forms that I envision in my mind.
